v0.12 - Year of the Update

Huh, feels like only a month ago I was writing a devlog in here.

Anyway, now that we are in 2024, welcome to…

THE YEAR OF THE UPDATE!!!

And then this is where I’d write something funny or clever about the new updates, but…

You know, Project Eeveesauce started development sometime in 2019. 2019 was five years ago.

Crazy, I know?! In these unprecedented times, it’s getting harder to keep track of time, with all these disaster pancakes stacking on top of each other to create a multi-layered disaster cake.

In truth, technically it hasn’t actually five years since I opened RMMV and created the project file, (I have NO IDEA when exactly that happened, definitely some time in 2019 though), but the dream was always there. The ideas, concepts, infinite possibilities of game development constantly taking up room in my mind.

But despite all this, PE only has like an hour of content, maybe 2 hours if you interact with everything ever, and I’ve been working on this for FIVE YEARS?! Well, it’s not like it’s a paying job or anything, and creativity and inspiration take time for me, so just let me cook and I’ll make something good eventually.

Anyway, the update is pretty cool. Here’s what we changed:

  • ADDED a new really cool lighting system because that’s what we’ve been missing all along.
  • ADDED loop markers to those tracks we compressed, by actually just compressing them again.
  • ADDED new story content to Chapter 2.
  • ADDED an optional jump to the newest Chapter 2 content.
  • ADDED the ability to immediately begin Chapter 1 when starting a new save.
  • ADDED SAVE crystals in various places to remind people to SAVE.
  • ADDED labels to each of the chapters in the chapter select.
  • FIXED the pause menu to show actor images properly instead of an empty area.
  • FIXED the fire effects not showing in Return of the Eeveesauce.
  • CHANGED the intro dialogue with Sick to be on the top of the screen so you can actually see Sick while he’s talking.
  • CHANGED some of the dialogue with Sick, because I could.
  • CHANGED that one track in Return of the Eeveesauce to actually be how it was previously.
  • CHANGED the size of the Sifie Lab and TOOTER rooms to fit the window.
  • REMOVED the cheater ending. Yeah, sorry, it had to happen at some point.
  • REMOVED Herobrine.
  • REMOVED annoying pauses during some of the earlier dialogue. Now you can speedrun faster!

Yeah, this is mostly a going-back-and-changing-things update. We only added like literally a minute of new content to Chapter 2.

And that’ll do it for this episode of Eeveesauce News. I am not missing ANYTHING from this article.

Oh fine, I’ll put a screenshot in.

Project Eeveesauce Official Wallpaper - 2023 Edition

Actually, it’s a wallpaper. You might’ve seen it before, or you might not’ve. I actually don’t remember if I posted it here before. (I’m hoping I didn’t.)

Either way, that’s all from me for now. See you guys later!!
